About the Big Book

The first edition of the book "Alcoholics Anonymous," commonly known as the Big Book, appeared in April 1939. Over the course of 16 years, more than 300,000 copies were distributed. The second edition was published in 1955 and reached a circulation of more than 1,150,000 copies. The third edition was published in 1976, reaching a distribution of 19,550,000 copies. No other book has helped so many alcoholics recover. It is a book that has remained unchanged from the day of its publication until this very day, reaching many millions.

The book presents the growth and importance of the fellowship of "Alcoholics Anonymous" for the recovery of alcoholics. The A.A. fellowship in every country around the world was created as a result of the distribution of this book. The book has one single purpose: to accurately describe the recovery program of "Alcoholics Anonymous" based on the diagnosis of the renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Silkworth. His contribution from the field of medicine to the recovery of alcoholics was greater than that of any other person.

If you have a drinking problem, we, who have recovered, hope that when you read this book and the personal stories of those who recovered, you will stop for a moment and think: "Did this happen to me?", and more importantly: "Did I feel that way?". After reading, the main question will arise: "Do I believe that this spiritual program can work for me too?".
